This tutorial was written using JASC PSP version 7.04 and assumes you have a working knowledge of the program at an intermediate level. Tools needed for this tutorial are as follows. JASC Paint Shop Pro. Download a 30 day free trial version or purchase here. This zip file of the "Guardian Angel" tube. *I am not sure where I got this wonderful tube. If anyone knows, please tell me so I can give the proper credit. Thank you.* This wood pattern, or one of your favorites.
Let's Get Started! Step 1. Open a new image 400x400, transparent. Open your finished wood tile or your tile of choice in PSP and set your foreground and background to that tile, under the pattern setting. Step 2. Click on your preset shapes tool. Find your cross 1 (it comes with PSP), antalilias checked. Place your curser starting at 32, 15, drag till you come to 367, 383.
Step 3. With your magic wand, tolerance set to zero, click on your canvas. Hold down your shift key and select the middle of your cross.
Go to selections> invert. Go to effects> inner bevel and apply using these settings.
Step 4 Open your layer pallet and duplicate that layer. Now go to Image> mirror then to image> flip. Now we want to resize to 90%. Making sure "resize all layers" is UNCHECKED. If you need to move it in place, use your mover tool.
Step 5 Repeat step 4. Then merge visible. This is what it should look like now.
Step 6 With your magic wand, select the middle of your cross. Go to selections> modify> expand and type in 3. Change your foreground to #EDCCA3. Flood fill your selection. Go to effects> texture effects> fine leather using the settings below.
Step 7. Go to selections> float, then to effects> cutout and apply using these settings.
Repeat the cutout except this time change the horizontal & vertical to minus 4. Step 8 Add a new layer. Open your angel tube from your tubes folder, scale 100. Apply the tube on your cross. Of course you can decorate your cross any way you want, this is just a guideline to how I have done it. Once you have added your tube, add a drop shadow with these settings.
Step 9 Add a new layer. Here is where you can add your text, again using any text you want to make it your own. Once you have added the text to the cross, I added a inner bevel using the "round" preset that comes with PSP. Merge your layers and your done! You can add a background to the finished image or tube it for later use. I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, feel free to E-mail me anytime.
